About
About The School of Abnormal
The School of Abnormal is an independent education, research, interview and publishing initiative developed as part of Brilliantly Unbalanced.
Its founding idea is that people should have the opportunity to examine the frameworks used to explain, educate, assess and judge them. It also celebrates the enjoyment that comes from living differently and feeling happy to be abnormal.
The project draws together visual science education, long-form interviews, research into action and inhibition, historical inquiry, educational accountability and investigations into the influence of social and institutional expectations.
The work is guided by curiosity and an insistence that evidence and accountability travel in both directions. People may ask questions of experts; experts may ask questions of our ideas; participants may question how their experiences are interpreted.
The School of Abnormal is currently a project in development. It does not yet provide accredited school enrolment, recognised qualifications or regulatory inspection services.
